Fused silica spherical plano-convex lenses are most suitable for ultraviolet monochromatic light. In the visible and near infrared region, the transmission of fused silica  is almost as same  as Bk7's. But in the ultraviolet region, the rate than the K9. Such lens are useful for convergence of parallel light, or the light source into parallel light. Also known as the infinite conjugate.
